Retro Hula - Polynesian Fusion Dancing

The art of Polynesian Dancing is dominated by the dances from Hawaii (Hula = Dance) with its emphasis on arm movements  and from Tahiti (Ori = Dance) with its emphasis on hip movements. Both dance styles were fused for Hotel and Restaurant shows for what is called the "Tiki culture." Using impressive and recognizable artifacts from Oceania, from Hong Kong to Tahiti and from india to Hawaii, this sub culture creates wonderful illusions of a fabulous island life style. Heavily influenced by Hollywood movies such as the musical hit "Blue Hawaii" (Elvis Presley) following the Hawaiian statehood in 1959, the mainland and Hollywood brought a "Polynesian pop" to the tiki culture.
